ABC Nail Challenge 2014: K is for Kitchen Sink Mani

Hey everyone! I’m writing this really tired so if there are any typos I apologize haha. I had a pretty boring end of last week and weekend. I did go to an event for my internship on Saturday, not a lot of people signed up to be mentors, but I talked to some people about the program and I was able to get in hours for my internship class (I have to have 135 internship hours by May 7th, I’m on track to get them all done though 🙂 ). This week so far, I’ve had my two classes and my internship on Monday and yesterday. I’m planning on walking dogs at the Humane Society this morning (if I can get myself up haha) and then this afternoon I have something to do with my internship and I have meetings for two of my honor societies.

Today’s nails are K is for Kitchen Sink Mani (or skittles mani, but I needed a K haha). Today’s nails are a kitchen sink mani (as in, everything but the kitchen sink haha). For all my nails I first applied one coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. For my thumb I did a gradient with China Glaze – For Audrey and Sally Hansen Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear – Coral Reef (I didn’t get a picture of my thumbs, but you’re not missing much – my gradients aren’t that good haha). For my pointer finger I did leopard print nails with  two coats of For Audrey as my base color and Coral Reef and China Glaze – Flying Dragon for the spots. For my middle finger I applied two coats of Coral Reef and then used For Audrey and a dotting tool for the dots. For my ring finger I applied two coats of Flying Dragon as my base color and then For Audrey, China Glaze – White on White, and Coral Reef to make a cloud mani. For my pinky I did a saran wrap mani with Coral Reef as the base color and For Audrey on top. I applied a coat of INM – Out the Door top coat to all of my nails. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday with L nails! Have a great week!

Teal/Black Funky French

Hey everyone! Sorry for not posting on Monday, I literally slept all day Sunday so Monday kind of snuck up on me (I stayed up until 9:30am on Sunday and slept until 2am on Monday, oops). I’m still trying to get back into the swing of blogging again. Friday was band banquet, it was nice to see everyone before winter break. On Monday, I went the the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and walked dogs for the first time as an actual volunteer (I walked dogs on Friday, but it was during a class)! It was a lot of fun and I think I’m going back tomorrow one last time before going home for winter break. I had a final presentation yesterday and I have a paper due at 10 today (already done) and a final at 1pm and then I’m done with finals! 🙂 And then I go home on Friday (yay! except for the flight being at 6:30am haha). I can’t wait to be home to see my dogs (and family too)!

Today’s nails are from November, the week before Thanksgiving. For these nails I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of Julep – Marion. I applied two coats of Pure Ice – Watch Me Go. I used Sally Hansen – Midnight in NY for the black tips. I topped it with INM – Out the Door top coat. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday! Have a great day! 🙂

Band Day Nails!!!

Happy Saturday!! Today I have a short post on my nails for the University of Arizona Band Day. This year’s show is the Beatles Strike Back. I don’t have much else to say, so I’ll get to the nails :).

SInce our show this year is The Beatles Strike Back, I decided to go with a ’60s inspired manicure. I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied 2 coats of China Glaze – White on White. I then watermarbled with China Glaze – Pink Voltage (Neon), Celtic Sun, Sun Worshipper, and I’m with the Lifeguard. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – Ghoulish Glow. I used Bundle Monster stamping plate BM07 and Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Black Out for the peace sign image. I topped it off with a coat of INM – Out the Door Top Coat. That’s it! Thanks for reading!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 22: Critters

Hey everyone! Sorry about skipping Saturday (the theme was pumpkins). I didn’t have time on Friday or Saturday to do my nails for the challenge. Family weekend went pretty well, Arizona won the football game (yay!). On Sunday I went to my grandparents’ house for dinner (steak and potatoes) and did some homework. Yesterday I registered for my classes and I’m really liking my schedule (I’m at 12 units right now, and two of my classes are online and the other two are 2.5 hour classes on Monday and Tuesday nights, I’ll be at 15 units once I add my internship). I only need 6 units to graduate in May, but I need 12 units to be considered a  full-time student, so I’m taking 15 (I’ve never taken less than 16 units so far). Hopefully I’ll be able to find a job as well. This Saturday is Band Day and while I’m excited, I’m also stressing because it feels like we haven’t had enough time, but we have practice on Wednesday and Friday to get everything to the level we want it at.

Today’s theme is critters. I decided to go with black cats. I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – Ghoulish Glow. Once that had dried I applied a coat of Out the Door top coat. I then used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Black Out and Shany Cosmetics stamping plate SH-08 for the cat image. I topped it all off with a coat of Out the Door Top Coat. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday with blood!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 7: Pattern

Hey everyone! I wasn’t quite sure if I’d get this post done (I was studying for tests all weekend), but I managed to pull through. Because I was studying, these nails aren’t my best, but they’re far from my worst haha. I didn’t really do anything except study this weekend, so I’ll get right to my nails.

Today’s theme is “pattern,” I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I tried to do a chevron nails, but failed miserably, so I decided to go with stripes. I started with a coat of Zoya – Anchor base coat. I then applied two coats of Zoya – Arizona. I allowed an ample amount of time for those coats to dry and then applied 3 pieces of striping tape horizontally across my nails. I then applied a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Black Out over my nails. Once I had finished applying Black Out, I removed the striping tape. I topped it off with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. Some of the lines weren’t quite straight, but I figured it added to the Halloween effect (somehow, not exactly sure how though haha). Also, there is some orange tint on my cuticles, I tried my best to get it off, but it wouldn’t budge. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on the Thursday with “trick or treat” nails. Have a great week!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 4: Candy Corn

Hey everyone! I’m really glad that this week is over, it seemed to drag on and on. Although I’m really not looking forward to next week, I have three tests on Tuesday :/ . I’m having friends over tonight and then I’ll be studying for the rest of the weekend. I’ve also updated my blog theme for Halloween 🙂 My polish stash has also been updated and includes a link to my polish spreadsheet.

The theme for today’s nails is candy corn. I tried doing a gradient, but they didn’t turn out very good so I took a different approach. I went with a simplified dotted candy corn look. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of OPI – You Don’t Know Jacques. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Lightening, Zoya – Arizona, and China Glaze – White on White for the candy corn. I finished it up with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. I’ll be back on Monday with a pattern for the Halloween Nail Art Challenge. Have a great weekend! Thanks for reading!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 1: Gold

Hey everyone! On Monday, I found the @californails Instagram October Nail Challenge, so I’ll be participating in that. I’ll be posting my nails on my Instagram and here the day of the challenge (so my Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule will be a bit off this month). I like the idea of this challenge because there’s not a theme for every day, giving me more of a chance of completing it. Here are the themes for all of the days this month:

Halloween Nail Art Challenge List

Today’s theme is gold. I’m not really a fan of gold polish (or gold in general really), so I just went with accent nails for today’s theme. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy on all my nails. I then applied two coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Golden-I to my thumb and ring fingers. I used two coats of China Glaze – Dance Baby on the rest of my fingernails. I went with pink because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I topped all my nails off with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday with Candy Corn nails. Have a great day!
