China Glaze At Vase Value/OPI Black Onyx Chevrons

Hey everyone! I know I’ve been absent for a while, I never really intended to abandon my blog, but life got in the way. I’ve been super busy with work, life, and my dogs. The dogs are doing well, Copper’s grown a lot and weighs about 11 pounds now (when I got him he weighed 4.5 pounds). He’s 9 months old now and is a good dog for the most part (I’m still dealing with chewing and puppy energy, but he’s super smart and learns pretty quick). Sophie is also doing well, still a sweetheart and she’s getting better with being along while I’m at work. Everything else has pretty much been the same. I haven’t really had time to do my nails lately and when I have had time, I usually use gel polish because it lasts longer and dries more quickly than normal polish. I’m still working on perfecting my gel polish application, but I feel like it’s getting better.

Today’s nails are more chevron nails. I’m still practicing with the nail vinyls, so I apologize for the messiness of some of my nails. I started with a coat of OPI – Natural Nail Base Coat. I then applied three coats of China Glaze – At Vase Value. Once that had dried completely, I applied the chevron nail vinyls. I then applied a coat of OPI – Black Onyx and removed the nail vinyls. I topped it off with two coats  of Seche Vite. (I haven’t really been taking that good of care of my hands/nails, so I apologize for my cuticles  and nail shapes). Thank you for reading, I’ll try and work on posting somewhat more regularly. Have a great day!!

I Graduated!!

I Graduated!!

Hey everyone! Sorry for taking yet another break, but I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Studies and Human Development on Saturday!! My parents, sister, grandpa, and Louis got into Tucson on Thursday after driving all day from Sacramento (I didn’t get to see them until Friday though because I had a final that I was working on when they got in and I was too tired to drive to my grandparent’s house to see them after my final). On Friday, there was a little get-together at my grandparent’s house and then my sister and I stayed the night at my house so we could get up in the morning and she could do my hair without being rushed. I had two graduations on Saturday (my college graduation and then the big university-wide commencement). All of Saturday is kind of a blur and the only part I really remember is the fireworks from the end of the big ceremony haha. I’m staying at my grandparents’ house while my family is here (until Friday or Saturday morning), so I won’t be able to post Disney Princess Nails until sometime next week. Here are some pictures from graduation: GradUAtion Collage

My nails for graduation matched my cap that I decorated. I used a coat of Orly Nail Defense for my base coat. I then applied two coats of OPI – I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw for my base color. Once that dried, I applied striping tape diagonally and then applied two coats of Zoya – Chyna. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat. Thanks for reading! GradUAtion Nails

Disney Princesses – Belle

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good! I found a dress for graduation (in the first store we looked at! yay!). I can’t believe I graduate on Saturday! I’m excited for that and that my parents, sister, and grandpa will be here on Thursday or Friday (and they’re bringing Louis too [my chihuahua]). I still have nothing important to do until Thursday night, so I have more Netflix and nails in my future haha.

Today’s nails are representing Belle from Beauty and the Beast, specifically the dress she wore in the ballroom dancing scene. I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I then applied three coats of OPI – OY – Another Polish Joke. I then used a hole reinforcer and Julep – Lilou for the top part of the half moon design. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Disney Princesses – Aurora

Disney Princesses – Aurora

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good week! I’ve finished almost all my course work (I just have 1 final left on Thursday)! Now I have nothing to do during the day (well, nothing that I have to do anyway). I guess I can use this time to watch Netflix and paint my nails distraction-free haha. I’m going shopping with my grandma to (hopefully) find a dress to wear for graduation next Saturday. I’m not really a fan of shopping, so hopefully I’ll be able to find something I like.

Today’s nails are representing Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. I chose to represent the parts of the film where Flora and Merryweather are changing the color of Aurora’s dress from pink to blue (making the dressending).

For my nails, I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I applied two coats each of OPI – Kiss Me I’m Brazilian (pink) and OPI – Can’t Find my Czechbook (blue) on alternating fingers. I then used the splatter technique (blowing nail polish from a straw) with the color opposite to the base color. I topped each nail with a coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust and then a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend! 🙂

OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook and Lucky 13 Lacquer – Always

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great week! Mine was pretty good! I can’t believe it’s already May! This semester went by so quickly; I can’t believe I graduate in 15 days! It’s crazy how fast the past four years have gone by. I only have two days of class left (and some online work) and then I’m done with my undergraduate career. It’s scary to think about, but also exciting!

Today’s nails are another simple swatch (not feeling particularly creative at the moment haha). I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I then applied two coats of OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook. Once that dried, I applied two coats of Lucky 13 LacquerAlways. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: P is for Purple Stripes (and Arizona Nail Meet Up)

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: P is for Purple Stripes (and Arizona Nail Meet Up)

Hey everyone! I hope you had/are having a good weekend! Mine was really good, it’s the start of spring break (which doesn’t really feel too exciting because I’ll still be doing my internship during my break, but at least I don’t have classes). I just got back from the Arizona Nail Meet Up #2 (fun) and I’m catching up on laundry (not fun). This is the first Arizona meet up I could make (the first one was in January and I was still on winter break). It was a lot of fun. It was hosted by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails, and there were 14 girls there including myself (the names of everyone are on Instagram 🙂 ). We played a game of “getting to know you” bingo and then a game where we had to match a brand name to the name of the color or the color name to the brand when given a swatch. It was a lot of fun and it was great to meet new people! Here’s a picture from the meet up:

AZ Nail Meet Up #2

The theme for our nails at the meet up was “stripes” so I decided to combine this with my ABC Nail Challenge and do P is for Purple Stripes. For these nails I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense Protein Treatment. I then applied three coats of OPI – You’re Such a BudaPest. Once that was dry, I placed 4 pieces of striping tape horizontally on my nails, applied a generous coat of China Glaze – For Audrey, and then immediately removed the striping tape. Once that had had ample time to dry I applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Thanks for reading! 🙂

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: O is for Ocean

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: O is for Ocean

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week so far! Mine’s been pretty good, I had a test on Monday that I did pretty well on and I had my internship on Monday and Tuesday. I have an online midterm tonight and my online assignments to do and then I’m on spring break! Yay – I’m ready for a break from school. I don’t have any super exciting plans for my break but I’ll be going to my internship at least a few days and I’ll be going to my grandparent’s house for a couple nights.

Today’s nails are O is for Ocean (and I’ll admit, these would work better for beach, but oceans have beaches so it works). I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense Protein Treatment for my base coat. For my base color I applied two coats of Wet n Wild – I Need a Refresh-Mint, topped with a coat of Sinful Colors – Cinderella to create a shimmer. I then applied OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook and used the saran wrap method to create the water ripple effect. For the tips of my nails, I sponged Zoya -Avery and OPI – You Don’t Know Jacques to create a sandy look. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Thanks for reading! Have a great day! 🙂

O is for Ocean (ABC Nail Challenge 2014)

*After I posted these, my dad suggested adding gold flakes to the tips, so I added two coats of Sephora by OPI – It’s Real 18K Gold Top Coat to the sandy tips of my nails and then applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to the entire nail. Here’s the new look:
