Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 24: Re-create a Holiday Mani

Hello 🙂 Welcome to the last day of the Advent Calendar Challenge! I really enjoyed participating in my first challenge and I hope to do more in the future. The theme of today’s manicure is to re-create a holiday mani. I decided to go with the theme from day 9 (pine) and recreate it using this tutorial for a dotted Christmas Tree. My nails didn’t turn out exactly as I wanted them to, but I still like them. I followed the instructions given in the tutorial, so if you are interested in trying this design, check out the tutorial. I used two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Mint Sprint for all my nails except for my ring fingers. I then used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Hard as Nails – Rockstar Pink for the glitter on the cuticle area of my nails. I used two coats of Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle – White Tip on my ring fingers. I then used green, red, and blue acrylic paint for the dots of the tree. I also used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Lickety-Split Lime and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Hard as Nails – Golden-I for the tree. I topped it with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails – Crystal Clear. That’s it from me today, I hope you all have a wonderful day. I also hope that you enjoyed the Advent Calendar Challenge.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 23: Rudolph

Hello 🙂 Today is the second to last day of the Advent Calendar Challenge (also day 23), and today’s theme was Rudolph. I was actually excited to do these nails because I saw this tutorial. I thought that they looked simple enough for me to try and I was right. They may not be perfect, but that’s ok, I like how they turned out. I painted my thumb, pointer finger, middle finger, and pinky with a coat of Sally Hansen Magnetic – Red-y Response and two coats of Sally Hansen Gem Crush – Lady Luck. I painted my ring finger with Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle – White Tip. I used acrylic paint for the rest of Rudolph (except his nose, I used a coat of Sally Hansen Magnetic – Red-y Response and two coats of Sally Hansen Gem Crush – Lady Luck). For a detailed description of how I created Rudolph, check out this tutorial. That’s it from me, check out the others who are participating in the challenge, and check back tomorrow for the final day of the Advent Calendar Challenge.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 22: Fruit Cake

Hello and welcome to day 22 of the Advent Calendar Challenge. Today’s theme is fruit cake. I found this difficult because (1) I don’t own brown polish and (2) I’ve never had fruitcake before (so I relied on a google image search to help me out). Any way, here is how I created today’s nails. I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle – White Tip. I then used a fan brush and brown acrylic paint to create the brown part of the fruit cake. I then used a dotting tool and red, green, and black acrylic paint to create the fruit inside the cake. That’s really all I have for you today, check out the others who are participating in the challenge and don’t forget to check back in tomorrow for another post from me.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 21: Water Marble

Hello 🙂 It’s day 21 of the advent calendar challenge, and today’s theme is water marble. I was really excited for today because I really like to water marble, I find it easy (even if all my nails don’t turn out the same way, but I think that that is part of the charm of water marble nails) and fun. Anyway, I think these nails turned out good. I started with two coats of Pure Ice – Superstar!. I then used Pure Ice – Siren, Pure Ice – Strapless, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Golden I, and Wet N Wild Wild Shine – Caribbean Frost (in that order). The tutorial I use for water marbling can be found here. That’s it from me, only three days of the Advent Calendar Challenge left, don’t forget to check out the others who are participating in the challenge.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 20: Sweets & Candy

Hello 🙂 Today is day twenty of the Advent Calendar Challenge and today’s theme is sweets & candy. I did a simple candy cane design. I started with Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle – White Tip. I then used a red acrylic paint (even though it looks red-orange in the pictures) and a striping brush to create the diagonal stripes on my nails. They’re not that exciting, but they fit the theme. That’s it for today’s nails, check out the others who are participating in the challenge and come back tomorrow for another design.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 19: Ugly Sweater

It’s day eighteen of the Advent Calendar Challenge, today’s theme is ugly sweater. I didn’t really know what to do for these nails, but I came up with something (that kind of fits the theme a little bit). I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Mint Sprint. I then used a dotting tool and orange and light pink acrylic paint to create the dots (maybe they’re pom poms or something, not really sure, but in my mind they belong on an ugly sweater). That’s it from me, enjoy your day.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 18: Something Classic

Hello 🙂 It’s day eighteen of the Advent Calendar Challenge, and today’s theme is something classic. I was having a really hard time deciding what to do for today’s nails. I couldn’t think of anything “classic” that wasn’t already on the challenge list. I ended up going with something that went with today’s theme as well as yesterday’s theme. I decided to go with a classic Christmas movie, “Miracle on 34th Street.” “Miracle on 34th Street” is a movie from 1947 about a man who works at Macy’s as a mall Santa, while also claiming to be the real deal. I figured that the movie has been around long enough to be considered classic. Because the movie is focused on a mall Santa at Macy’s I would recreate the red Macy’s star on my nails. I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle – White Tip. While that was drying, I cut star shapes into painter’s tape with my star hole punch. I then placed a star stencil on each of my nails and used Pure Ice – Siren to color in the stars on my nails. That’s it form me today! Check back tomorrow for another post and don’t forget to check out the other participants in the challenge (listed in my side bar).

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 17: Inspired by a Christmas Movie

Hello, I’m going home today!!! I’m really excited to go home and see my dogs (and my family), but mostly my dogs (especially my Chihuahua, Louis because I bought him a University of Arizona dog hoody). I love my family too and I am excited to see them, but I can talk to them on the phone or video chat with them so I never get homesick for people. Here’s a picture of my dog’s hoody:

And now, the real reason why you’re here, my nails. It’s day seventeen of the Advent Calendar Challenge and today’s theme is “inspired by a Christmas movie.” For my Christmas movie, I chose “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” specifically I chose to recreate Snoopy’s dog house with lights. I started with two coats of Pure Ice – Siren. I then used a striping brush and black acrylic paint to create the string for the lights. I then used purple, orange, and blue acrylic paint and a dotting tool to make the lights. That’s it from me, check out the others who are participating in the challenge (listed on the side bar). Hope you have a great day!

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 16: Inspired by a Christmas Song

It’s day sixteen of the advent calendar challenge. Today’s theme is inspired by a christmas song. I chose the song “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” I couldn’t find the version I wanted on YouTube, but there’s a ton of other versions. Anyway, here are my nails for day sixteen. I started with two coats of Pure Ice – Kiss Me Here. I then used a dotting tool to create a dot at the base of my nails with red acrylic paint. I then used green acrylic paint and two different sized dotting tools to create the leaves of the mistletoe (even though they look more like holly than mistletoe). I then used a heart shaped hole punch to create the hearts at the tips of my nails. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Presto Pink for the hearts. That’s it from me, check out the others who are participating in the challenge.

Advent Calendar Challenge – Day 15: Something Cozy

Hey Everyone 🙂 It’s day fifteen of the Advent Calendar Challenge, which means that after today, there are only nine days left (not exactly sure how I feel about that, on one hand I like having an idea for each day, but on the other hand I don’t like the fast-paced nature of having to create a manicure everyday). Today’s theme is something cozy. I was not really sure what to do for this; I tried drawing a scarf, but the paint and brush were not cooperating and I could not make it work, so I tried thinking of other things that make me feel cozy. And I came up with my dogs, I like to sit on the couch and spend time with them, so I decided to go with this idea (I know it’s a bit of a stretch, but I find it cozy, and they’re my nails, so I went with it :)). Anyway, I started with two coats of Wet N Wild – I Need a Refresh-Mint (no reason in particular, other than I like the color). I then used a dark blue acrylic paint and a large dotting tool to create the large pad of the paw print. I then used a smaller dotting tool to create the four smaller pads of the feet. And then I decided to put a top coat on (I thought the acrylic paint was dry, but it wasn’t completely dry) and ended up smearing the paw prints. But that’s ok, I still knew what they were supposed to be. That’s it from me, check out the others who are participating in the challenge and check back tomorrow for another Advent Calendar Challenge Post.
