ABC Nail Challenge 2014: K is for Kitchen Sink Mani

Hey everyone! I’m writing this really tired so if there are any typos I apologize haha. I had a pretty boring end of last week and weekend. I did go to an event for my internship on Saturday, not a lot of people signed up to be mentors, but I talked to some people about the program and I was able to get in hours for my internship class (I have to have 135 internship hours by May 7th, I’m on track to get them all done though 🙂 ). This week so far, I’ve had my two classes and my internship on Monday and yesterday. I’m planning on walking dogs at the Humane Society this morning (if I can get myself up haha) and then this afternoon I have something to do with my internship and I have meetings for two of my honor societies.

Today’s nails are K is for Kitchen Sink Mani (or skittles mani, but I needed a K haha). Today’s nails are a kitchen sink mani (as in, everything but the kitchen sink haha). For all my nails I first applied one coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. For my thumb I did a gradient with China Glaze – For Audrey and Sally Hansen Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear – Coral Reef (I didn’t get a picture of my thumbs, but you’re not missing much – my gradients aren’t that good haha). For my pointer finger I did leopard print nails with  two coats of For Audrey as my base color and Coral Reef and China Glaze – Flying Dragon for the spots. For my middle finger I applied two coats of Coral Reef and then used For Audrey and a dotting tool for the dots. For my ring finger I applied two coats of Flying Dragon as my base color and then For Audrey, China Glaze – White on White, and Coral Reef to make a cloud mani. For my pinky I did a saran wrap mani with Coral Reef as the base color and For Audrey on top. I applied a coat of INM – Out the Door top coat to all of my nails. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday with L nails! Have a great week!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 10: Trick or Treat

Hey everyone! I’m really glad that this week is almost over, I’m ready for the weekend. My three tests on Tuesday wore me out and yesterday I was just off (I felt sick and not like myself). I’m hoping today and tomorrow go better and then I have the weekend to relax :). I have practice on Friday (thankfully just from 3-5:30pm) and then Saturday morning I have practice from 8-12pm. I also don’t have any tests next week (yay!) so hopefully that will help me be able to enjoy my weekend.

The theme for today’s nails from the Halloween Nail Art Challenge is trick or treat. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do at first, but then decided to go with a skittle mani (get it? Skittles are a candy and with a skittle mani each nail is a different treat – I know, I’m lame haha 🙂 ). For all my nails I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. For my thumb (not pictured), I applied two coats of China Glaze – Shower Together and used China Glaze – White on White to make dots. For my pointer/index finger, I applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White as my base color and then used China Glaze – Shower Together and China Glaze – Flying Dragon to create a cloud mani. For my middle finger I applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White, and then used striping tape and China Glaze – Shower Together to create stripes. For my ring finger, I applied two coats of China Glaze – Flying Dragon topped with two coats of Pure Ice – Cheatin. For my pinky, I applied two coats of China Glaze – Flying Dragon as my base color and then applied dots using China Glaze – White on White. I topped all my nails with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. That’s it from me today, I’ll be back on Sunday with ghost nails. Thanks for reading, have a great week!

Pink with White Dots

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I posted anything! Since I last posted, I’ve moved back to Tucson, completed band camp, finished my first week back at school for my senior year, and performed in my last first football game. Band camp went well, we learned all of pre-game (a first in many years) and part one of out halftime show “The Beatles Strike Back” (here’s our performance on the last night of band camp, the video from the game isn’t up yet). After band camp ended, school started. I only have band on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have four classes from 11:00 to 4:45 in the same room (not quite sure how I feel about that yet haha). My classes seem interesting (so far at least), but they do seem like more work than my other classes so far (which makes sense, I’m taking more upper division classes now). I know I’ll be able to keep up, I’ll just have to organize and prioritize. Our first football game was against Northern Arizona University (NAU) on Friday and we won 35 to 0. It was the first time we performed pre-game and halftime for a big crowd, and it was also the unveiling of our new uniforms! Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures in it this week, but I’ll try to remember to get some at the next game.

Because I’ve been so busy with life, I hadn’t had time to paint my nails until Saturday night. It was the first time I’ve painted my nails since my last blog post. I did something simple to help ease me back into doing my nails. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy base coat. I then applied three coats of Wet n Wild –Candy-licious. I then used a dotting tool and China Glaze – White on White for the dots. I topped it off with a coat of Out the Door top coat. That’s it from me today, I’ll be back on Wednesday with another post.Pink with White Dots

Lucky 13 Lacquer – Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights? (and 3D Dotted Nails)

**Products reviewed in this post were purchased by me**

Hello 🙂 Yesterday I had jury duty, I got out of one court room (thank you trip to Vegas in June), and then I waited until 3:30 and was released. I’m glad it’s over for at least another eighteen months though. I have physical therapy for my shoulder today at 10:20, hopefully all the physical therapy will help and I’ll be able to march relatively pain-free. I’m surprised at how fast summer is going, even though it’s only been a week and a half that I’ve been home, it doesn’t feel like it at all. I guess that’s a good and bad thing; a good thing because I’m ready to go back to school and finish my senior year (not excited about the learning part though) and a bad thing because I feel like summer is rushing by and I haven’t really even done anything. Although, later this summer (in about a month) I’ll be helping watch Weimaraner puppies for a family friend who is a (very responsible) breeder. I’m excited for that because I love dogs so much, and puppies are so adorable. Today’s post features my first indie polish – Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights? from Lucky 13 Lacquer.

L is for Ladybug

Hello Everyone! I can’t believe that it’s already April! Which means that school is almost out (just over a month to go). I had a good weekend (I went to my grandparents’ house for Easter) and this week should hopefully be good as well. I don’t have much else to say, so it’s time for my nails.

Today’s nails are L is for Ladybug. I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense. I then applied two coats of Pure Ice – Siren. I then used black acrylic paint and a dotting tool to create the dots. I topped it with two coats of Orly Nail Defense. That’s it for today, I’ll be back on Wednesday with the last letter (Z) of my A to Z nail challenge.

D is for Dotted French

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know that this was supposed to go up yesterday, but I was having problems getting my nails to look how I wanted to so it’s going up today. My weekend was okay, unexpected things came up on Saturday and my mentee was unable to make it to the Easter Basket event, but I still went; it was a lot of fun, especially delivering the baskets to the assisted living homes, everyone was really happy that we thought of them, I even met a woman who was 103 years old. The rest of the day Saturday I just kind of hung out and didn’t really do much. Sunday I did some homework, but mostly just lounged around and watched Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead. I’m hoping that this week will be less busy than last week was (I think it will be since I only have one test). I think I’m going to start posting only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a while (I need to focus on school and I want to be able to not stress about blogging – which seems dumb, but I do stress about what I’m going to do with my nails and creating posts), with an occasional weekend post. I might be cutting down on blogging but I’m not giving up on it, I just have to balance school and my life and blogging and the best thing for me right now seems to be to cut down. Thanks for understanding!

And now that the boring part is out of the way, I present you with D is for Dotted French in my A to Z nail challenge. For this design, I started with a coat of Orly Strengthener for Peeling and Splitting Nails (I’m not sure if it works, but I figured it was worth a shot) as a base coat. I then applied three coats of OPI – Suzi’s Hungary AGAIN! (I could have used two, but I was impatient and painted the second coat too soon and it dragged the first coat). I then used white acrylic paint and a dotting tool to create the dotted french tips. I finished it with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. I had good intentions with this, but I haven’t used my dotting tools in a while so my dots are a little weird looking haha. The second picture is more color accurate (of the polish, not my hands) and the first is just a better picture. OPI -Suzi’s Hungary AGAIN! is pink not salmon like the first picture shows. For some reason, my camera is being stupid and isn’t taking color accurate pictures, so the “color accurate” picture is from my iPhone 5 camera.
