Lucky 13 Lacquer – Always

**Products reviewed in this post were purchased by me**

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a great week! Mine was pretty good; I puppy sat, went to Chico, puppy sat some more, and relaxed. On Wednesday, Sarah and I took the puppies for their first real car ride. We took four puppies to my mom’s work (she works close to where the puppies live) and hung out there for about an hour while her coworkers came down to snuggle the puppies. Then we went back to the puppies’ house and switched puppies. We took the remaining five puppies to their owner’s (Renee) work. We put a blanket on the ground and the puppies stumbled around on the blanket while Renee’s coworkers took turns holding them. The first group of puppies was very noisy in the car, but the second group was quiet. Roxie (mama dog) did very good with us taking the puppies away and didn’t squish any of the ones that were left at home with her. The puppies are also starting to hear! I was making noises (I’m weird) and pink girl perked her ears up and looked at me. I continued to talk/make noises at her and she looked at me and my mouth while I was talking. I then cuddled with blue boy and barked at him, to which he responded to by barking and play growling at me. I’m headed back there today to watch them, so I’ll have more puppy pictures on Monday! Here’s a picture of all 9 puppies on a sheet in the kitchen.

Today’s nails feature my second ever indie polish! This is another Lucky 13 Lacquer polish (the same brand as my first indie). This polish is called “Always” and it is from Lucky 13’s Mischief Managed (Harry Potter) Collection. This polish was “inspired by the patronus and this exchange between Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape.” (“Lily? After all this time?” – Albus; “Always” – Snape). This polish is a “sheer silver-y topcoat with aqua microflakes that glows bright blue in the dark.”  I love this polish! It has a subtle shimmer and the blue flakes are subtle as well, until they hit the right light. I layered this polish over China Glaze – White on White to get the effect of the polish on its own without the base color adding or detracting from the polish. When I charged up the polish and turned the lights off, the glow was great, it’s definitely bright blue! The brush and formula are great, just as in “Hey, Who Turned Out The Lights?”.

I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy, topped that with two coats of China Glaze – White on White, applied three coats of Lucky 13 Lacquer – Always, and topped it off with Out the Door Top Coat. I would definitely recommend this polish if you’re looking for a sheer silver topper that glows in the dark! It is available here for $8.50 plus shipping. Have a great day and weekend! Thanks for reading!

Lucky 13 Lacquer – Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights? (and 3D Dotted Nails)

**Products reviewed in this post were purchased by me**

Hello 🙂 Yesterday I had jury duty, I got out of one court room (thank you trip to Vegas in June), and then I waited until 3:30 and was released. I’m glad it’s over for at least another eighteen months though. I have physical therapy for my shoulder today at 10:20, hopefully all the physical therapy will help and I’ll be able to march relatively pain-free. I’m surprised at how fast summer is going, even though it’s only been a week and a half that I’ve been home, it doesn’t feel like it at all. I guess that’s a good and bad thing; a good thing because I’m ready to go back to school and finish my senior year (not excited about the learning part though) and a bad thing because I feel like summer is rushing by and I haven’t really even done anything. Although, later this summer (in about a month) I’ll be helping watch Weimaraner puppies for a family friend who is a (very responsible) breeder. I’m excited for that because I love dogs so much, and puppies are so adorable. Today’s post features my first indie polish – Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights? from Lucky 13 Lacquer.

Final Review of OMG Nail Strips Nail Foils

Hello 🙂 I don’t have any pictures of the final day of wear from the OMG Nail Strip Nail Foils, but they were still lasting well, but with more tip wear. I decided to pick them off because I was tired of the tip wear and creases. The red part came off in one piece (it was sort of plastic-like), the silver I picked off slowly and used nail polish remover. Here are the claims made by the packaging and website and how they held up:

Product Claims

100% Shiny (Nail Foil Packaging)

  • The nail foil strips were very shiny and metallic, this claim was definitely true.

Zero Drying Time (Nail Foil Packaging and here)

  • There was no drying time as they are essentially stickers.

Zero Smudging or Smearing (Nail Foil Packaging and here)

  • While there was no smudging or smearing, I did experience wrinkles/creases which for me is the same thing (the difference being that smudging/smearing occurs in nail polish and wrinkles/creases occur in nail stickers).

16 Shiny Metallic Nail Foil Strips (here)

  • There were sixteen shiny metallic nail foil strips enclosed in the packaging.

Quick and Easy to Apply (here)

  • The nail foil strips were quick to apply, however, not exactly easy. The nail foils required a blow dryer and even then, creases/wrinkles still occurred.

Overall Impressions

Overall I liked these nail foils. They lasted longer than the nail polish strips (twice as long). The nail foils lasted 3 days and 4 nights. Perhaps the wrinkles/creases would not have occurred if I was more experienced in applying nail foils, but with practice I’m sure these could be applied with little to no creases/wrinkles.

3 Days of Wear – OMG Nail Foil Strips: Red and Silver Stars Product Review

Hello 🙂 Well, it’s day 3 of wearing these nail foils from OMG Nail Strips and they’re still holding up better than the nail polish strips, which is a positive. There is more tip shrinkage everyday, but it’s not a real problem yet. I am getting bored of them however (not because I don’t like how they look, I’m just used to changing my nails on a more frequent basis). Here are some pictures:

2 Days of Wear – OMG Nail Foil Strips: Red and Silver Stars Product Review

Hello 🙂 I hope that everyone’s new year is off to a good start. Although, it’s only one day in, so hopefully it hasn’t been too bad. My new year is off to a good start so far, I didn’t really do much yesterday, I slept in for a little bit, hung out with my family, helped take down Christmas decorations from the outside of the house (still have to do the inside), finished reading a book my boyfriend got me for Christmas (The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury), and of course I spent time and played with my dogs. Nothing too exciting, but it was my day.

Now on to the real purpose of today’s post, OMG Nail Foil Strips review day 2 of wear. Yesterday was the second full day of wear of OMG Nail Foil Strips. This was as long as the nail polish strips lasted, so I’m more impressed by the nail foils than the nail polish strips. Obviously if I’m more impressed then the nail foils are lasting longer. There is still a little shrinkage on the tips, but nothing that is too bothersome for me (yet at least). Maybe because these are more shiny and reflective my nail tips are less of a visible problem for me than the nail polish strips (which were shiny, but not metallic). The wrinkles/creases still sort of bother me, but not as much as they did after the initial application. Anyway, here are some pictures so you can see for yourself:

1 Day of Wear – OMG Nail Foil Strips Red and Silver Stars Product Review

Hello 🙂 Happy New Year!! I can’t believe that it’s 2013 already! I feel like 2012 went by pretty quickly at some times, but dragged on at other times. I can’t believe that I only have one and a half years of college left (and then I have to figure out what I’m doing with the rest of my life). I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve and I also hope you have a happy and healthy 2013! Now onto the nails!

Yesterday was the first real day of wear of the OMG Nail Foils (I applied the nail strips around 5pm on December 30, so the first full day of wear was December 31). I am pretty happy with how they are holding up so far, no extreme shrinkage or tip wear (just like the first day of wear of the nail polish strips, which I reviewed here). Hopefully these nail foils continue to hold up. The little creases/wrinkles on the foils (my fault in the application of the foils) still bother me a little bit, but they are holding up fine so far so it’s kind of a toss up; I’ll see how I feel in my final review.

Nail Foil Review – OMG Nail Strips

Hello 🙂 Today I have another product review from OMG Nail Strips. When I was contacted by OMG Nail Strips, I was allowed to pick two designs, so I picked a nail polish strips (reviewed here, here, and here) and nail foil strips. I enjoyed the nail polish strips (except for the fact that they only lasted for three nights and two days), so I hoped that the nail foil strips would be good as well. There is a variety of different nail foil strips available for purchase from http://www.omgnailstrips.com/nail-foil-strips (for under five dollars), but I chose the Red and Silver Stars Nail Foil Strips. Each set of nail foil strips comes with 16 nail foils in different sizes to fit all your nails. Their nail polish strips can be viewed at http://www.omgnailstrips.com/nail-polish-strips. And their website can be found at http://www.omgnailstrips.com/.

omgnailstrippackage

Because I liked the nail polish strips, I had high hopes for these nail foil strips. Here are the claims that are made by the nail foil strip package and website.

Product Claims

  1. 100% Shiny (Nail Foil Packaging)
  2. Zero Drying Time (Nail Foil Packaging and here)
  3. Zero Smudging or Smearing (Nail Foil Packaging and here)
  4. 16 Shinny Metallic Nail Foil Strips (here)
  5. Quick and Easy to Apply (here)
Instructions (Provided via Email)
  1. Clean and manicure nails and cuticles prior to applying nail strips
  2. Peel nail strips from the flat side of the strip, the rounded side will be placed just above your cuticles (If you have shorter nails you may want to cut the nail strips to length leaving about 3/4″ hanging off the tip of your nail)
  3. Place the round side of the nail strip at the base of your cuticle, applying pressure from the middle of the cuticle press around in one direction and then the other.
  4. Holding the nail strip at the cuticle base stretch the nail strip over the tip of the nail while smoothing any creases on the side of the nail.
  5. Using a cuticle pusher tuck the nail foil along the cuticle base
  6. Hold your nail so it is facing up and with a thin nail file, filing in a (downward only) direction remove the excess nail foil from the tip and around the sides of your nail.
  7. Now that your nail foil is applied use a hair dryer on a high heat and your finger to smooth out any remaining imperfections (for Nail Polish Stickers heat is not necessary)

My Opinion

Unfortunately, I found the nail foils way more difficult to apply than the nail polish strips, I was only able to apply a few of the nail foils without wrinkles or creases. This is frustrating for me because the nail foils are super shiny and the creases are easily visible in certain lights. I did not like having to use a blowdryer to apply these, it took longer than it did to apply the nail polish strips. I don’t have much else to say about the nail foil strips right now, so here are some pictures.
