China Glaze At Vase Value/OPI Black Onyx Chevrons

Hey everyone! I know I’ve been absent for a while, I never really intended to abandon my blog, but life got in the way. I’ve been super busy with work, life, and my dogs. The dogs are doing well, Copper’s grown a lot and weighs about 11 pounds now (when I got him he weighed 4.5 pounds). He’s 9 months old now and is a good dog for the most part (I’m still dealing with chewing and puppy energy, but he’s super smart and learns pretty quick). Sophie is also doing well, still a sweetheart and she’s getting better with being along while I’m at work. Everything else has pretty much been the same. I haven’t really had time to do my nails lately and when I have had time, I usually use gel polish because it lasts longer and dries more quickly than normal polish. I’m still working on perfecting my gel polish application, but I feel like it’s getting better.

Today’s nails are more chevron nails. I’m still practicing with the nail vinyls, so I apologize for the messiness of some of my nails. I started with a coat of OPI – Natural Nail Base Coat. I then applied three coats of China Glaze – At Vase Value. Once that had dried completely, I applied the chevron nail vinyls. I then applied a coat of OPI – Black Onyx and removed the nail vinyls. I topped it off with two coats  of Seche Vite. (I haven’t really been taking that good of care of my hands/nails, so I apologize for my cuticles  and nail shapes). Thank you for reading, I’ll try and work on posting somewhat more regularly. Have a great day!!

Bundle Monster Mulberry Surprise/Berry Fizz Gel Polish

Hi everyone! I guess it’s been a while since I’ve posted, oops. I’ve been super super busy with work and life in general and I haven’t had time to do my nails much (actually at all haha). Not much has changed in the last couple months. I still have my dog Sophie and last month I rescued a three month old puppy I named Cooper (he’s four months old now and doing pretty good). He knows sit and I’ve started teaching him to lay down. He’s getting the hang of those, but house training is taking a while – mostly my fault though, but we’re working on it. Everything else is going pretty good. Here are some pictures of Cooper!

Now for the nails! I apologize in advance for the quality of my nails/the pictures – I’m a bit out of practice haha. I recently got a gel nail polish kit/supplies so I’ve been experimenting with those. I used the Gelish Foundation, two coats of Bundle Monster Color – Mulberry Surprise (cured in between coats) then I used Chevron Nail Vinyls and Bundle Monster Color – Berry Fizz, I then applied two coats of Gelish Top it Off. Both Mulberry Surprise and Berry Fizz are color-changing polishes, so pictures of both the cold and warm colors are below. (the cold pictures are on top and the warm pictures are on the bottom). Thanks for reading, I’m not sure when I’ll be posting again, but I plan on keeping up with blogging (at least occasionally).

Disney Princesses – Snow White

Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been away for a while! I had my first day of work on Monday, and it’s going well so far! I’ve finished all of my online training already (yay!) and I’ve had a few in-person training sessions (and many more to go haha). I also started shadowing people on Friday and that will continue for a while as well. I’m still trying to get settled and figure everything out, so I probably won’t be posting much this week as well.

Today’s nails are representing Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense. I then applied two coats of Julep – Lilou. I then applied a piece of striping tape down the center of my nails and then used hole punch reinforcers  and Julep – Monaco to create the stripe and the top part of the dress. I then used a striping brush and Julep – Margot to line the blue part of the dress and the line up the center. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat over my entire nail. Thanks for reading, have a great week!

Disney Princesses – Jasmine

Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been away again. I graduated on the 17th of May and then my parents and sister were here for the following week. And we looked for apartments because I got I job! I had a job offer from a job fair that I went to in April, but I was officially hired on Tuesday and I start on Monday! It’s my first real job and it’s in my field. I’m really excited/nervous to start. I’m also excited to move into my new apartment (the lease at the house I’m living at now is up in July and I’m moving to my new apartment in June). Because of my job and moving, I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to do/post nails, but once I figure out my schedule, I’ll let you know.

Today’s princess nails are representing Jasmine from Aladdin. I was aiming to recreate Jasmine’s costume (specifically, her pants). I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I then applied three coats of Julep – Jeanne on the lower area. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat. The colors aren’t quite right, but the general idea is there. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!

I Graduated!!

I Graduated!!

Hey everyone! Sorry for taking yet another break, but I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Studies and Human Development on Saturday!! My parents, sister, grandpa, and Louis got into Tucson on Thursday after driving all day from Sacramento (I didn’t get to see them until Friday though because I had a final that I was working on when they got in and I was too tired to drive to my grandparent’s house to see them after my final). On Friday, there was a little get-together at my grandparent’s house and then my sister and I stayed the night at my house so we could get up in the morning and she could do my hair without being rushed. I had two graduations on Saturday (my college graduation and then the big university-wide commencement). All of Saturday is kind of a blur and the only part I really remember is the fireworks from the end of the big ceremony haha. I’m staying at my grandparents’ house while my family is here (until Friday or Saturday morning), so I won’t be able to post Disney Princess Nails until sometime next week. Here are some pictures from graduation: GradUAtion Collage

My nails for graduation matched my cap that I decorated. I used a coat of Orly Nail Defense for my base coat. I then applied two coats of OPI – I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw for my base color. Once that dried, I applied striping tape diagonally and then applied two coats of Zoya – Chyna. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat. Thanks for reading! GradUAtion Nails

Disney Princesses – Tiana

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week so far! I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday, this week has been going by so slowly (although that may be because I’m looking forward to graduation on Saturday). I’m going to start really studying for my final today and continue tomorrow and then I’m completely done with my undergraduate career.

Today’s nails are representing Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. I don’t really like how they turned out (the colors aren’t quite right, but they were the closest I had), but I think they’re okay. I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I then applied two coats of Zoya – Josie, I then applied a coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust. I then applied hole punch reinforcers like I did in my Cinderella nails and applied a coat of Julep – Courteney. I then used painter’s tape to create a triangle at the tip of my nails and applied Julep – Lilou. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading, have a great day! 🙂

Disney Princesses – Belle

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good! I found a dress for graduation (in the first store we looked at! yay!). I can’t believe I graduate on Saturday! I’m excited for that and that my parents, sister, and grandpa will be here on Thursday or Friday (and they’re bringing Louis too [my chihuahua]). I still have nothing important to do until Thursday night, so I have more Netflix and nails in my future haha.

Today’s nails are representing Belle from Beauty and the Beast, specifically the dress she wore in the ballroom dancing scene. I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I then applied three coats of OPI – OY – Another Polish Joke. I then used a hole reinforcer and Julep – Lilou for the top part of the half moon design. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Disney Princesses – Aurora

Disney Princesses – Aurora

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good week! I’ve finished almost all my course work (I just have 1 final left on Thursday)! Now I have nothing to do during the day (well, nothing that I have to do anyway). I guess I can use this time to watch Netflix and paint my nails distraction-free haha. I’m going shopping with my grandma to (hopefully) find a dress to wear for graduation next Saturday. I’m not really a fan of shopping, so hopefully I’ll be able to find something I like.

Today’s nails are representing Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. I chose to represent the parts of the film where Flora and Merryweather are changing the color of Aurora’s dress from pink to blue (making the dressending).

For my nails, I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense. I applied two coats each of OPI – Kiss Me I’m Brazilian (pink) and OPI – Can’t Find my Czechbook (blue) on alternating fingers. I then used the splatter technique (blowing nail polish from a straw) with the color opposite to the base color. I topped each nail with a coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust and then a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend! 🙂

Disney Princesses – Cinderella

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good weekend! Sorry for not posting on Monday, but I was busy this weekend and I didn’t have a chance to do my nails. I had my last undergraduate class ever last night! It’s crazy to think that in a week and a half, I’ll be graduated from college, the past four years went by so fast! It’s definitely bittersweet haha. I have one final left until I’m completely done, and of course it’s during the last possible final time slot (8:30pm on Thursday May 15). But other than that I’m finished with all my classes for the semester!

Today’s nails are the start of a new challenge that I made up (someone else has probably done it before, but I came up with the idea for mine by myself haha). I’m going to do nails inspired by each of the 11 official Disney Princesses (Jasmine, Ariel, Rapunzel, Tiana, Belle, Merida, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Aurora, Mulan, and Snow White – in no particular order). I started with Cinderella and did a recreation of a previous nail design I’ve done (and look back on and wonder what I was thinking haha). I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White. Once that had dried, I cut hole reinforcers in half and placed one half on each side of the base of my nail (this will make sense when you look at the picture haha). I then applied a coat of China Glaze – For Audrey and then three quick coats of Sinful Colors – Cinderella (I didn’t let them dry in between coats because I wanted to be able to remove the reinforcers without the polish stringing along with it). I then gave that lots of time to dry (like hours) and applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. You can’t really see the shimmer in Cinderella (probably because For Audrey was a little bit too dark as a base color, but it’s there haha). And excuse the awkward looking logo, I cut my finger on Sunday at the animal shelter and it looks gross, so there’ll be a box over it for a while. Thanks for reading!

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: W is for Wet n Wild Water Marble

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good, I decorated my cap for graduation (I’ll post pictures when it gets closer to graduation, I’m not sure if I’m completely done yet haha), went to a volunteer appreciation event on Sunday, did laundry, and did homework (I know, I know, I live such an exciting life haha). I have my internship today and then a class in the evening.

Today’s nails are W is for Wet n Wild Water Marble. I don’t really like how these turned out, but I didn’t/don’t feel like re-doing them, so here they are haha. I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense as my base coat. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White. The colors I used for the water marble were Wet n Wild – Candy-licious, Wet n Wild – Lavender Crème, and Wet n Wild – Fergalicious (all repeated twice). I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast top coat. Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
