ABC Nail Challenge 2014: T is for Turquoise Stone Nails

Hey everyone! Happy Friday, I hope you had a great week! This is the first week in a while that I’ve actually posted three times haha. My week went pretty good, I’m still trying to get used to school again after spring break, but I’m working on it. I still have some online homework to do, but I have until Sunday at midnight to get it all done. I’m going to a UA baseball game and picnic tomorrow afternoon for my internship, and in the morning I’m hoping to go to the animal shelter to walk dogs, but it depends on how much sleep I get (I don’t want to be tired when walking dogs or at the picnic/baseball game haha). If I don’t go tomorrow, I’ll go on Sunday. Then for the rest of the weekend I’ll be doing homework and researching jobs – super fun haha.

Today’s nails are T is for Turquoise Stone nails. I’ve done turquoise stone nails before, but I like today’s nails better. I started with a coat of Orly – Nail Defense Strengthening Protein Treatment for my base coat. I then applied two coats of Zoya – Wednesday for my base color. I then applied a coat of Sephora by OPI – It’s Real 18K Gold Top Coat. I used Wet n Wild – Black Crème and hairspray to create the black veins. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat. (I’m not sure who came up with the original nail design, but this is the tutorial I followed). Thanks for reading! Have a great day and weekend! 🙂 T is for Turquoise Stone Nails (ABC Nail Challenge 2014)

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: S is for Showgirl Blue

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a good week so far! Mine is going by really slowly haha. I picked up my cap and gown on Monday, so I’m finally getting more excited for graduation. I’ve stayed up too late the past couple nights so this post is going to be really short.

Today’s nails are S is for Showgirl Blue. I started with two coats of Orly – Nail Defense Strengthening Protein Treatment, then I applied two coats of China Glaze – Shower Together, then I applied two coats of Forever 21 – Showgirl Blue, and I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. That’s it from me today, have a great day! Thanks for reading! 🙂

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: R is for Roses

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good rest of your week and weekend! Mine was pretty good, I spent Wednesday through Friday at my grandparent’s house, Saturday morning I went to the animal shelter and walked dogs, and yesterday I just hung out at home and enjoyed my last day of spring break. I’m not looking forward to going back to school today, but oh well, it’s the home stretch before I graduate in May (which is both exciting and terrifying haha). Hopefully this last part of the semester goes by quickly.

Today’s nails are R is for Roses. I followed this tutorial by cutepolish on YouTube. Mine didn’t turn out exactly like hers, but I still like them for my first attempt. I’m not going to try to explain how I did them haha; cutepolish did a good job of giving a tutorial, so if you’re interested, check it out. For my base coat I used a coat of Orly – Nail Defense Strengthening Protein Treatment, for my base color I used two coats of China Glaze – Aquadelic, for the base color of the roses I used China Glaze – Something Sweet, for the accents of the roses and for the leaves I used acrylic paint, and for my top coat I used a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. That’s all for today, thanks for reading! Have a great day!

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: Q is for Quilted Nails

Hey everyone! I hope your week is going well! Mine is going pretty good, it’s spring break so I don’t have any homework or school work to do (yay!). I did have my internship on Monday and yesterday, and I’m interviewing a girl for our program this morning. This afternoon I’ll be going to my grandparent’s house for a couple days, so this will probably be my last post this week.

Today’s nails are Q is for Quilted Nails. I used this tutorial from The PolishAholic. Her tutorial does a great job of explaining/showing the steps to create this look (and it’s really simple!), so check it out. I used a coat of Orly Nail Defense for my base coat, two coats of China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy for the base color, Wet n Wild – Tropicalia for the top color, and Pure Ice – Beware for the dots, I used a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast for my top coat. Thanks for reading! Have a great week!

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: P is for Purple Stripes (and Arizona Nail Meet Up)

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: P is for Purple Stripes (and Arizona Nail Meet Up)

Hey everyone! I hope you had/are having a good weekend! Mine was really good, it’s the start of spring break (which doesn’t really feel too exciting because I’ll still be doing my internship during my break, but at least I don’t have classes). I just got back from the Arizona Nail Meet Up #2 (fun) and I’m catching up on laundry (not fun). This is the first Arizona meet up I could make (the first one was in January and I was still on winter break). It was a lot of fun. It was hosted by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails, and there were 14 girls there including myself (the names of everyone are on Instagram 🙂 ). We played a game of “getting to know you” bingo and then a game where we had to match a brand name to the name of the color or the color name to the brand when given a swatch. It was a lot of fun and it was great to meet new people! Here’s a picture from the meet up:

AZ Nail Meet Up #2

The theme for our nails at the meet up was “stripes” so I decided to combine this with my ABC Nail Challenge and do P is for Purple Stripes. For these nails I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense Protein Treatment. I then applied three coats of OPI – You’re Such a BudaPest. Once that was dry, I placed 4 pieces of striping tape horizontally on my nails, applied a generous coat of China Glaze – For Audrey, and then immediately removed the striping tape. Once that had had ample time to dry I applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Thanks for reading! 🙂

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: O is for Ocean

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: O is for Ocean

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week so far! Mine’s been pretty good, I had a test on Monday that I did pretty well on and I had my internship on Monday and Tuesday. I have an online midterm tonight and my online assignments to do and then I’m on spring break! Yay – I’m ready for a break from school. I don’t have any super exciting plans for my break but I’ll be going to my internship at least a few days and I’ll be going to my grandparent’s house for a couple nights.

Today’s nails are O is for Ocean (and I’ll admit, these would work better for beach, but oceans have beaches so it works). I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense Protein Treatment for my base coat. For my base color I applied two coats of Wet n Wild – I Need a Refresh-Mint, topped with a coat of Sinful Colors – Cinderella to create a shimmer. I then applied OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook and used the saran wrap method to create the water ripple effect. For the tips of my nails, I sponged Zoya -Avery and OPI – You Don’t Know Jacques to create a sandy look. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Thanks for reading! Have a great day! 🙂

*After I posted these, my dad suggested adding gold flakes to the tips, so I added two coats of Sephora by OPI – It’s Real 18K Gold Top Coat to the sandy tips of my nails and then applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to the entire nail. Here’s the new look:

ABC Nail Challenge 2014: N is for Nautical Nails

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good, I was dog/house-sitting all day Saturday and most of the day on Sunday, so that was fun. I was watching a Golden Retriever named Buster (there’s a picture of him on my Instagram). Other than that, my weekend was pretty uneventful. I did studying and laundry on Sunday when I got back home and then I did my nails.

Today’s nails are N is for Nautical Nails. I started with a coat of Orly Nail Defense Strengthening Protein Treatment for a basecoat on all my nails. To create the stripes, I first applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White, I then applied four pieces of striping tape on each of my nails that I was creating stripes on, and then I applied a coat of OPI – I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw on top of the striping tape and then immediately removed the striping tape (sidenote: I really like the color I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw, but it is a really bad stainer – as you can kind of see around my cuticles). For my accent anchor nail, I applied two coats of “A” Inspired Nail Polish – Cardinal, and then used the anchor image on the Bundle Monster plate BM08 and China Glaze – White on White to create the anchor. I then applied a coat of Wet n Wild Clear Nail Protector as a top coat. Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
