ABC Nail Challenge 2014: A is for Arizona

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! Mine was okay, we took down the Christmas trees (all 4 of them!) and other the Christmas decorations inside the house on Sunday, now we just have to take down the decorations and lights outside.

As 2013 comes to an end, I want to thank everyone for reading and following my blog! It really means a lot to me that people actually look at my nails 🙂 Here’s a video I made with the Flipagram app with all my nails from this year; from January 1st to December 27th. Thanks again for all your support!

To start off 2014, I’m going to do another alphabet nail art challenge. I did one at the beginning of this year, so I thought I would start this year with another one. Last year I didn’t go in alphabetical order, but this year I think I’ll try to. Even though it’s not 2014 yet, my first post in the ABC Nail Challenge 2014 will be today. And today’s letter is…A is for Arizona! I go to school at the University of Arizona and for Christmas my parents got me an “A” Inspired Nail Polish set (it came with a red and a blue nail polish – my school colors – and block A nail stickers), so I’m dedicating the first post of this challenge to my school. Plus the Wildcat football team is playing in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl tomorrow and I wanted to show support for them (Bear Down! Go Cats!). For these nails I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White to all of my nails. Then I applied two coats of “A” inspired – Cardinal and Navy Blue (no official names were given to the polishes on the bottles or packages, so I’m naming them after the school colors) to the tips of my nails (alternating colors for each finger). I then applied block A nail stickers to each of my nails (I had tried putting them over the Cardinal and Navy, but they were really hard to see). I finished it up with a coat of INM – Out the Door Top Coat. I don’t really like how they turned out (I freehanded the tips and they’re not even, the stickers don’t lay completely flat, they didn’t photograph well [it’s really blue, not black], and my nails are shaped weird because they keep breaking), but it was late at night when I did them, so they’ll have to do I guess haha. Thank you so much for reading! Have a fun (and safe) New Year’s Eve! I’ll be back on Wednesday with letter B nails!

Forever 21 – Cotton Candy Swatch

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you’ve had a great week. My Christmas was pretty good, I got some yarn and yarn needles (I picked up crocheting at the beginning of this month), a curling wand for my hair (that I’m not good at using because I’m scared of burning myself; but I really like the way my hair looks when it’s curled so I guess I’ll have to practice), red and blue Arizona Wildcat nail polish and block A nail stickers (the polish doesn’t have a brand name or a color name, but they look like they’ll be decent polish and the bottles have block As on them), a shirt and a jacket, and some other stuff. For Christmas dinner my mom, dad, grandpa, and sister had prime rib and my grandma and I had turkey (I’m not a huge fan of prime rib, although this year it looked like it was cooked really well). We also had mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, 24 hour salad (it’s like a fruit salad with marshmallows and a custard; it’s my favorite part of holiday dinners), fresh cranberries, and olives. It was a really good dinner. Yesterday was my mom’s birthday and in the afternoon we went to the mall (except my dad, he had to work) and returned a pair of my sister’s jeans and my sister and I stocked up on soap to take back to school with us (Bath and Body Works was having a sale), I also got a new pair of pink and white Tom’s shoes. Then for dinner last night we went to sushi (yum)!

Today I have a swatch of a polish I got from a friend for my birthday earlier this month – Forever 21 – Cotton Candy (baby blue/multi). I applied a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy as a base coat. I then applied two coats of Wet n Wild – I Need a Refresh-mint as a base color because the polish was not quite opaque on its own with two coats, and I Need a Refresh-mint matched the base of Cotton Candy pretty well. Then I applied two coats of Forever 21 – Cotton Candy (the name on the bottle was baby blue/multi, but I went online and found the actual name from the Forever 21 website). Cotton Candy is a crelly; it’s not quite a creme, and not quite a jelly. I topped it off with a coat of INM – Out the Door Top Coat.  Thank you for reading, have a great weekend!

Hello Everyone! Merry Christmas! I hope you’ve all had a good week so far! Mine is going pretty good so far. I’m going to keep this post short, I’m writing this late and I’m tired haha.

Teal/Black Funky French

Hey everyone! Sorry for not posting on Monday, I literally slept all day Sunday so Monday kind of snuck up on me (I stayed up until 9:30am on Sunday and slept until 2am on Monday, oops). I’m still trying to get back into the swing of blogging again. Friday was band banquet, it was nice to see everyone before winter break. On Monday, I went the the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and walked dogs for the first time as an actual volunteer (I walked dogs on Friday, but it was during a class)! It was a lot of fun and I think I’m going back tomorrow one last time before going home for winter break. I had a final presentation yesterday and I have a paper due at 10 today (already done) and a final at 1pm and then I’m done with finals! 🙂 And then I go home on Friday (yay! except for the flight being at 6:30am haha). I can’t wait to be home to see my dogs (and family too)!

Today’s nails are from November, the week before Thanksgiving. For these nails I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of Julep – Marion. I applied two coats of Pure Ice – Watch Me Go. I used Sally Hansen – Midnight in NY for the black tips. I topped it with INM – Out the Door top coat. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday! Have a great day! 🙂

Nabi Holo – Silver

Hey everyone! It’s Friday! I hope you all had a great week 🙂 Mine was pretty good, I only had one day of class haha. Finals start today, but I don’t have any until Tuesday and Wednesday and then I get to go home for a month on Friday! Yesterday I had my dog handling  class at the Humane Society and this morning I have my dog walking class and then I can walk dogs by myself! I also have the band banquet tonight (it’s like an end of the season dinner for the POA). I can’t believe my last season of marching is over, it’s a pretty weird feeling. I am, however, glad that this semester is almost over, I’m so done with all my classes from this semester, but I think I did pretty well, so that’s good.

Today’s nails are also from October. I started with one coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – Cosmic Dust. I then applied two coats of Nabi 3D Rainbow Effect- Silver. I topped it off with a coat of INM – Out the Door top coat. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Monday! Have a great weekend! 🙂

Neon Half Moon

Hey everyone! It’s been more than a month since my last post (oops). In that month, I’ve performed at my last home football game with the band (we beat Oregon, which was pretty cool since they were number 5 in the nation and they lost to our unranked team), my parents got to see me perform a halftime show (they came down to Tucson for my senior night), I went to my last ever football game with the band (it was fun even though we lost to our in-state rivals, ASU), went to a friend’s house for thanksgiving, I turned 22 on December 3rd (and I don’t feel any different – looking at you Taylor Swift), lost and found an internship (that was stressful), finished major projects, and gone to my last day of class for the semester (except for finals next week). I have a couple finals that I have to do next week, I’m going to a dog handling class at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona so I can become a volunteer, and I’m going home next Friday and I don’t come back to Tucson until January 20th (yay! long winter break). I should be able to keep up with blogging again because I actually have time now haha.

These nails are actually from October, but I didn’t have time to post them until now (notice the “out of season” neon colors). For these nails I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. I then applied three coats of China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy. Once that dried, I used a hole punch reinforcer and painted the top part of my nails with two coats of China Glaze – Turned Up Turquoise. I finished with a coat of INM – Out the Door Top Coat. I’ll be back on Friday with more nails! 🙂 Thanks for reading!
