Band Day Nails!!!

Happy Saturday!! Today I have a short post on my nails for the University of Arizona Band Day. This year’s show is the Beatles Strike Back. I don’t have much else to say, so I’ll get to the nails :).

SInce our show this year is The Beatles Strike Back, I decided to go with a ’60s inspired manicure. I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied 2 coats of China Glaze – White on White. I then watermarbled with China Glaze – Pink Voltage (Neon), Celtic Sun, Sun Worshipper, and I’m with the Lifeguard. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – Ghoulish Glow. I used Bundle Monster stamping plate BM07 and Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Black Out for the peace sign image. I topped it off with a coat of INM – Out the Door Top Coat. That’s it! Thanks for reading!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 25: Blood

Hey Everyone! Happy Friday! This week went pretty well compared to the past couple weeks. I have practice this afternoon and then after practice, I’m going to pick up paperwork for my internship next semester.  After that I’ll do some homework, relax, and hydrate (even though it’s almost November, the high on Saturday is 86 degrees). I’ll get a good amount of sleep and be ready for band day! I’m really excited and nervous for it. It’s my last band day ever, and that’s kind of sad, but luckily there’s still four more home football games to perform at. While I’ll have some down time in-between my performances on Saturday, there won’t be much time to do anything, so the majority of my homework and studying will have to be done on Sunday.

Today’s theme is blood. I decided to go with a splatter mani to get a blood splatter effect. I started with a coat of Zoya – Anchor base coat. I then applied 2 coats of Zoya – Avery. For the splatter part I used Pure Ice – Siren. I topped it off with a coat of INM – Out the Door top coat. I’m also experimenting with a different picture set up, I put a piece of black poster paper on my wall and am shining a desk lamp at the paper and my hand. I think this might give more color accurate photos, but I’ll have to test this with other manis as well. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Monday with monsters, have a great weekend!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 22: Critters

Hey everyone! Sorry about skipping Saturday (the theme was pumpkins). I didn’t have time on Friday or Saturday to do my nails for the challenge. Family weekend went pretty well, Arizona won the football game (yay!). On Sunday I went to my grandparents’ house for dinner (steak and potatoes) and did some homework. Yesterday I registered for my classes and I’m really liking my schedule (I’m at 12 units right now, and two of my classes are online and the other two are 2.5 hour classes on Monday and Tuesday nights, I’ll be at 15 units once I add my internship). I only need 6 units to graduate in May, but I need 12 units to be considered a  full-time student, so I’m taking 15 (I’ve never taken less than 16 units so far). Hopefully I’ll be able to find a job as well. This Saturday is Band Day and while I’m excited, I’m also stressing because it feels like we haven’t had enough time, but we have practice on Wednesday and Friday to get everything to the level we want it at.

Today’s theme is critters. I decided to go with black cats. I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – Ghoulish Glow. Once that had dried I applied a coat of Out the Door top coat. I then used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Black Out and Shany Cosmetics stamping plate SH-08 for the cat image. I topped it all off with a coat of Out the Door Top Coat. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday with blood!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 16: Graveyard

Hey everyone! I’m back with the Halloween Nail Art Challenge today. This week is going pretty good so far (yay! I need a good week after last week). There’s (finally) another home football game on Saturday, I’m looking forward to performing pre-game and half-time again. While I’m looking forward to the actual game, I’m not looking forward to the Saturday morning rehearsal from 8 to noon. I’m writing this pretty late, so that’s all I’ve got as far as my life goes right now. Here’s the list of days for the Halloween Nail Art Challenge again:

Halloween Nail Art Challenge List

Today’s theme is graveyard. I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of Pure Ice – Kiss Me Here. I allowed that to dry and then used a nail art brush and black acrylic paint to write RIP on my nails. I then applied “cracks” to the tombstones with grey acrylic paint. I then used green acrylic paint and a fan nail art brush to create the grass at the bottom of the tombstones. I finished with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Saturday with pumpkin nails. Have a great week!

One Year Blogging and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day Nails

Hey everyone! One year ago today I started blogging. Apparently I didn’t understand clean up (and didn’t really until recently) and my hand pose was often awkward. I want to thank everyone who follows me, I appreciate all of you! When I first started this blog, I didn’t think that anyone would follow me and got excited every time I got an email saying that I got a new follower. Even one year later, I still get excited. I just wanted to say thank you for sticking with me! Today is also my sister’s 19th birthday. Even though we didn’t always get along growing up, we’ve started to get along better. But no matter what, she’s my sister and I love her. Oh!, she told me I had to mention her birthday on my blog, so Happy Birthday Sarah! (I wonder if she’ll even read this :P).

I couldn’t get my ghost nails for the Halloween Nail Art Challenge to work so I decided not to stress about it and skip that day (I’ll continue the challenge tomorrow with graveyard nails).

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Although I personally have not experienced this, I know people who have and did these nails to show my support for them and others who are going through the same thing. For my nails, I started with a coat of OPI – Matte Nail Envy. The blue is Wet n Wild – I Need a Refresh-mint and the pink is China Glaze – Something Sweet. I used the footprint image from Shany Cosmetics stamping plate SH03 and China Glaze – White on White for the footprints. I topped my nails off with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 10: Trick or Treat

Hey everyone! I’m really glad that this week is almost over, I’m ready for the weekend. My three tests on Tuesday wore me out and yesterday I was just off (I felt sick and not like myself). I’m hoping today and tomorrow go better and then I have the weekend to relax :). I have practice on Friday (thankfully just from 3-5:30pm) and then Saturday morning I have practice from 8-12pm. I also don’t have any tests next week (yay!) so hopefully that will help me be able to enjoy my weekend.

The theme for today’s nails from the Halloween Nail Art Challenge is trick or treat. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do at first, but then decided to go with a skittle mani (get it? Skittles are a candy and with a skittle mani each nail is a different treat – I know, I’m lame haha 🙂 ). For all my nails I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. For my thumb (not pictured), I applied two coats of China Glaze – Shower Together and used China Glaze – White on White to make dots. For my pointer/index finger, I applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White as my base color and then used China Glaze – Shower Together and China Glaze – Flying Dragon to create a cloud mani. For my middle finger I applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White, and then used striping tape and China Glaze – Shower Together to create stripes. For my ring finger, I applied two coats of China Glaze – Flying Dragon topped with two coats of Pure Ice – Cheatin. For my pinky, I applied two coats of China Glaze – Flying Dragon as my base color and then applied dots using China Glaze – White on White. I topped all my nails with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. That’s it from me today, I’ll be back on Sunday with ghost nails. Thanks for reading, have a great week!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge – October 7: Pattern

Hey everyone! I wasn’t quite sure if I’d get this post done (I was studying for tests all weekend), but I managed to pull through. Because I was studying, these nails aren’t my best, but they’re far from my worst haha. I didn’t really do anything except study this weekend, so I’ll get right to my nails.

Today’s theme is “pattern,” I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I tried to do a chevron nails, but failed miserably, so I decided to go with stripes. I started with a coat of Zoya – Anchor base coat. I then applied two coats of Zoya – Arizona. I allowed an ample amount of time for those coats to dry and then applied 3 pieces of striping tape horizontally across my nails. I then applied a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – Black Out over my nails. Once I had finished applying Black Out, I removed the striping tape. I topped it off with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Clearly Quick. Some of the lines weren’t quite straight, but I figured it added to the Halloween effect (somehow, not exactly sure how though haha). Also, there is some orange tint on my cuticles, I tried my best to get it off, but it wouldn’t budge. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on the Thursday with “trick or treat” nails. Have a great week!
