I’m with the Lifeguard and He Glows?!

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great week! Mine has been really good! I’ve gotten to help deliver puppies, spend a day with the puppies, and I bought new nail polish yesterday. I’m going over to watch the puppies and Roxie again today, so I’m really excited for that! Not much else has been happening since Wednesday, but life is good again. My sister, mom, and dad all went to my sister’s orientation for UNR, so I was home by myself yesterday and today to take care of our dogs and cats. I’m not sure what I’m doing this weekend, but I might go shooting with my dad and sister on Sunday morning – although, my ears are really sensitive so I might not go. Here’s a puppy picture for today!

Weim Puppies - Pink Girl, Yellow Girl, Teal Girl, Red Boy

Today’s nails are simple (I really need to experiment more, I just keep getting lazy). I started with OPI Matte Nail Envy as a base coat. I then applied three coats of China Glaze – I’m With the Lifeguard. I applied Pure Ice – Beware on my thumbs and ring fingers as accent nails. On my other nails, I applied two coats of Lucky 13 Lacquer – Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights?. I finished my nails with Orly Nail Defense for a top coat. I’ll be back on Monday with more nails and puppy pictures!

Dots and Puppies

Hello everyone! I’m really happy to say that Roxie had her puppies on Monday night/ Tuesday Morning! She had 9 puppies total: 2 blue girls, 3 blue boys, 3 grey girls, and 1 grey boy (5 girls and 2 boys). She did a good job, it was her 3rd litter after all. After the 8th puppy was born, we didn’t think that there were any more so we took quick showers and rested. Then, four hours after the last puppy  we went to check on the dogs and found that Roxie had a 9th puppy all by herself. We all rushed to help clean him up and tie off his umbilical cord and he was all good. Renee (Roxie’s owner) caught the puppies; I was in charge of cleaning up/rubbing vigorously, tying the umbilical cord off, and clearing the nose and airways if needed; my sister was in charge of taking notes, helping me tie off the umbilical cords (holding the legs out of the way), weighing the puppies, and choosing the collar colors for each puppy. Roxie is a great mama and all puppies are doing well! Here’s a picture of 8 of the puppies (when this picture was taken, the 9th puppy wasn’t born yet).

I had the base color of these nails on when I was helping whelp puppies, so excuse the slight wear. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook. I then applied two coats of Lucky 13 Lacqer – Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights?. I finished that off with a coat of Orly In a Snap. I had that much on when I was helping whelp puppies, and added dots with China Glaze – Dance Baby when I got home after a much-needed nap (I woke up at 6am on Monday and was up until 8:15am on Tuesday). I topped that with a coat of Orly In a Snap. That’s it from me today, I’m going to be watching puppies today though, so if you want to see more pictures of puppies check out my Instagram. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Friday with more nails!

Zoya Josie with Real Gold

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good weekend! Mine was super tiring – I babysat on Saturday and Sunday for a 6 and 3 year old. I’ve realized that my imagination is nowhere as good as it used to be haha. It was fun though, it was nice to get out of the house for a little. Still no puppies yet (as of 8:50 pm on Sunday), hopefully soon! I can’t wait to snuggle with puppies! This week should be pretty good, I’ll be watching puppies today (or I’ll be on puppy watch again if she hasn’t had them yet), I have an eye appointment on Tuesday, and I’ll be watching puppies on Wednesday and Friday. My sister and mom are going to my sister’s orientation for college (University of Nevada, Reno) on Thursday and Friday, but I’ll be staying home to watch the puppies (if you want to see them, be sure to follow me on Instagram, I’m sure I’ll be posting pictures haha).

Today’s nails are simple. I started with a coat of Zoya Anchor base coat. I then applied two coats of Zoya – Josie to each of my nails. I let them dry and applied two coats of Sephora by OPI – It’s Real 18K Gold Top Coat. I finished with Orly – In a Snap Top Coat. That’s all from me today, I’ll be back on Wednesday with more nails (and hopefully some puppy pictures)!

Puppy Watch Nails

Hey everyone! I’m doing a little better since Wednesday. My dentist appointment went well, still no cavities and my gums look good. My sister and I didn’t have puppy watch on Wednesday, but yesterday we were with Roxie (the mama dog) all day and we spent the night. As of 11:06pm, on June 20, no puppies yet. If she doesn’t have puppies on Thursday night, hopefully she’ll have them sometime today. Tomorrow and Sunday I’m babysitting practically all day so hopefully Roxie has her puppies before I have to leave to get some rest before babysitting. And then for at least the next 3 weeks my either my sister, just me, or both of us will be watching the puppies on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I’m really excited! I just love puppies and dogs so much! Because puppies have been on my brain, they are also on my nails. Well, paw prints at least.

Today’s inspiration for my nails was puppies. I used a light pink and a light blue for the babies and white paw prints because they’re puppies. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. The pink is China Glaze – Dance Baby and the blue is China Glaze – For Audrey. I freehanded the paw prints using China Glaze – White on White. I topped it off with Orly In a Snap top coat. That’s it from me today. I’ll be back on Monday, hopefully with news of puppies haha. Have a great weekend!

China Glaze Pink Voltage with White Flower

Hey everyone! I really hope all of you have had a better week than I have. I was supposed to go to Las Vegas last week, but stuff happened so I didn’t end up going (pretty upset about that). And stuff just kept on happening, so my whole week kind of sucked. This week should be better because the puppies that I’ll be watching this summer are due this week! I’m really excited, I love puppies (and dogs in general), so that will be fun. Hopefully puppy snuggles will get me out of this funk I’m in. Obviously, with all the stuff that happened I didn’t have time to do my nails or write any posts, so I apologize for that, but any nails/posts that I would have done would have been terrible and full of mopey Rachel (more so than this). While I’m still not back to my normal self, I think getting back to my normal swing of things will help me feel more and more like myself. Yesterday I met with the kids I’ll be babysitting this weekend. I have a dentist appointment today, nothing important, just a cleaning. And then for the rest of the week, I’ll be on “puppy watch” with my sister. And then this weekend I’ll be babysitting all day on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday. So I have that stuff to look forward to which will hopefully make me feel more like myself.

Today’s nails are the first stamping nails I have done in a while. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. I then applied three coats of China Glaze – Pink Voltage (Neon). I used stamping plate SH05 and China Glaze – White on White for the flower. I did accent nails on my thumb and ring finger. I topped it off with a coat of Orly In a Snap Top Coat. Hope you all have a great week, I’ll be back on Friday with more nails!

Zoya Fei Fei

Hello 🙂 Today I have another Zoya nail polish that I got from the Earth Day Promotion to show you. I haven’t used them much because I didn’t have the right base coat (Zoya Anchor), and my nails would take hours to dry and even then they wouldn’t be completely dry. But now that I have the right base coat, I really like Zoya polish. This weekend was pretty good. It was really hot here on Saturday (about 110*F), so I spent most of the day in the pool. Sunday was about 80*F, so I didn’t go in the pool at all. I’m headed to Vegas on Wednesday night, and still need guest posters, so if anyone is interested, feel free to contact me (rewdoesnails(at)gmail(dot)com)! Next week have a dentist appointment and I’m going to be on puppy watch for a family friend’s Weimaraner towards the end of the week. I’m so excited, I can’t wait to see puppies!

Today’s nails are really simple, just a color. I started with a coat of Zoya Anchor base coat. I then applied two coats of Zoya Fei Fei. I applied Orly In a Snap Top Coat. That’s it from me today, I’ll be back on Wednesday! Have a great day!

Blue and White Gradient

Hey Everyone! I’m feeling a lot better today (yay!). This week went by exceptionally fast for me. I’m not really sure why though, I didn’t really do much. I had my last physical therapy session yesterday, the therapist said that she’s given me enough strengthening exercises and there’s not really a point in continuing to “drag me back every week,” so I’ll continue the exercises on my own and if I have problems while I’m home, I can call and make an appointment. Hopefully the strengthening I’ve done so far and that I will continue to do will help me be able to march as pain-free as possible.

Next week (Wednesday), I’ll be heading to Las Vegas with my boyfriend for a couple days! His 21st birthday is tomorrow (I’m exactly 6 months and 6 days older than him haha), and he’s at a family wedding this weekend so we’ll be headed there Thursday morning. Because I’ll be in Vegas, I won’t be doing my nails, so if anyone is interested in doing a guest post, feel free to contact me (rewdoesnails(at)gmail(dot)com) and we can work something out. I’ll need 2 for sure, but if more people are interested, I can arrange for that. I’ll need guest posts for Friday (6/14) and Monday (6/17), if the dates are important to you. Any skill level/style is welcome!

Today’s nails are my second attempt at a gradient/ombre manicure. I think that they turned out okay, but I still want to improve so there will definitely be more gradients in the future. I started with a coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy. I then applied two coats of China Glaze – White on White. I used OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook and White on White for the gradient. A tutorial for the gradient can be found here. I did a better job of clean-up on these nails (well, for me at least), but I still have room for improvement (as you can see I got a little overzealous on my middle finger). But hey, I’m a work in progress, and that’s all that matters. Have a good day! I’ll be back on Monday!
